Reminder: Lexington AI Meetup - July 10th, 2025
A conversation with a founding member of AlphaFold, from Google's DeepMind

July 2025
Hi friends - Logan here. Wanted to get out a quick reminder about our AI Meetup taking place tomorrow at 5:30pm.
We’re going to joined by Steve Crossan, who led the product team responsible for putting DeepMind’s technology into Google, and was a founding member of their AlphaFold team. In addition to his work at DeepMind, Steve spent several years at Google working on Google Maps, Gmail, and Google Search.
AlphaFold, the AI from DeepMind, can predict a protein’s 3D shape using just its amino acid sequence - something that used to take labs months or even years in the past. Its newest version, AlphaFold 3, not only maps proteins but also reveals how they interact with DNA, RNA, drugs, and antibodies, dramatically sharpening its utility for drug design and molecular engineering.
Looking ahead, this technology could revolutionize everything from precision medicine and custom enzyme creation to sustainable biotech solutions and smarter agriculture - basically giving scientists a molecular Swiss Army knife for the future.
It’s rare that we have minds like this in Lexington, KY that are willing to spend time with us - for free. Don’t miss this one!
