We’ve got an awesome episode for you today - one of my favorite Kentucky startups has returned to the podcast to not only give us some exciting updates, but also to dive deep into a topic that affects all of us, every day: the weather. You might remember Chris Goode, the Founder and CEO of Climavision, from episode 171 back in 2021 (I highly recommend listening to this episode if you haven’t already). On today’s episode, we not only got to catch up with Chris, but he also brought along Ben Toms and Peter Childs, the VP of AI and Chief Scientist at Climavision, respectively. The Company: Climavision

Climavision is revolutionizing (and I don’t use that word lightly) the way weather forecasting & data are used to tackle some of the biggest problems faced by major industries like energy, aviation, agriculture, and many more. When we spoke to Chris back in 2021, they had just come out of stealth mode and announced that they raised $100m to build out a weather radar network. By filling in the gaps within the existing radar network, Climavision has been able to provide hyper-accurate weather forecasting data to clients who’s businesses rely heavily on what the weather is doing.

The Recent Acquisition of Intersphere, How Their Data is Being Used Across Various Industries, & GenAI Modeling vs. Traditional Forecasting

There’s a lot to unpack in this episode. Perhaps most attention-grabbing is the recent acquisition of Intersphere, which added GenAI forecasting to Climavision’s offerings and brought Ben (Intersphere’s founder) onto the team. We were also joined by Climavision’s Chief Scientist, Peter Childs, who has an impressive background in helping power and gas traders across Europe and North America leverage weather data. Thanks to Ben and Peter’s expertise, we we’re able to take a deep dive into the advances in weather modeling and the new capabilities generative artificial intelligence is enabling.
